Columbus Woman Celebrates International Women's Day with Announcing Third Patent for ALLTIMATE Luggage 3-in-1 Travel Set

COLUMBUS WOMAN CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH ANNOUNCING THIRD PATENT FOR ALLTIMATE LUGGAGE 3-IN-1 TRAVEL SET

COLUMBUS, GA (MARCH 8, 2022) – Necessity is the mother of all invention. That very inspiration has allowed a Columbus, Ga., mom, grandmother, and retired Aflac® employee to develop a product that earned her a third utility patent, just in time to celebrate International Women’s Day 2022.

Recently, Rashmi Hudson, founder, and inventor of ALLTIMATE™ Luggage, was notified that her 3-in-1 Travel Set has been awarded a patent in the UK. This patent joins her first two, which are US patents.

“Having traveled both domestically and internationally for many years in my marketing position for Aflac and personal trips, I just knew there had to be a better piece of luggage,” Hudson shared. “Once my son started attending the University of Georgia, juggling all the luggage on our first trip to Athens and then having to re-iron everything was a nightmare. My search for a piece of luggage that would hold my clothes, keep them wrinkle free, and be easy to carry left me empty handed. My husband commented that I was always coming up with solutions and suggested I invent something and here we are.”

Though there is a great deal of work to earn a utility patent like Hudson’s to ensure that no one can make, use, or sell the same design functionality for 20 years.

In July of 2020, a study released by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) showed that the number of patents involving women is increasing. In the release, Deputy Secretary of Commerce Karen Dunn Kelley commented, “I applaud the USPTO for their support of women inventors and their work to encourage women to take advantage of our nation’s intellectual property protections, the gold standard for the world. Everyone benefits when women fully participate in our innovation ecosystem.”

Hudson shared, “Though I wouldn’t have gotten this far without the support of my family, especially my 97-year-old father-in-law’s engineering advice, as a patent-holding, female inventor, I am proud to show my daughter, nieces, and my granddaughter that they can accomplish whatever they set their mind to do.”
